Construction to Commence on New Geauga County Offices
Groundbreaking ceremony October 28, 2020.
Geauga County, OH: The official groundbreaking for the new Geauga County office building occurred at 3pm on October 28, 2020. The new building, located at Ravenwood and Merritt Roads in Claridon Township, will consolidate County departments to provide a convenient, central location for County provided services.
Construction is anticipated to be completed in 2022. The County Commissioners are currently working with ThenDesign Architecture (TDA), NV5, and Donley’s IC on the planning, design and construction of the new building.
The four story, 115,682 square foot building exterior is designed to complement the surrounding wooded environment. The project preserves valuable wetlands and includes an environmentally sensitive stormwater management system. The building is energy efficient featuring LED lighting and sophisticated temperature control systems to further reduce energy use and minimize operating expenses. The interior of the building features common meeting and dining spaces for all departments and public meetings fostering collaboration between departments. A drop off area and large parking lot provide adequate spaces for visitors including ample ADA parking areas.
Along with University Hospitals, Geauga County Public Library, and the Geauga Board of Mental Health, the new offices provide valuable resources for Geauga County residents while supporting economic development by bringing additional jobs and revenue to the area. The County Commissioners are excited for the growth and opportunity that this new building brings to Geauga County. The building promotes collaboration among our departments as well as offers more convenient access to the government offices and services to better serve the needs of our citizens.
